A present for my wife at Christmas, Bowl gouges

I want to buy a set of three bowl gouges for my wife, 1/4" 3/8, and 1/2". Are these the best sizes for a starter set?

I have found two sources, Crown brand at Highland Hardware, the set of three for $133.96 includes shipping. or Henry Taylor at LeeValley for $148.00 includes shipping. The $14 difference is not a big deal, I want to get the best of the two brands. Your comments and recommendations will be appreciated.

I use all three sizes but the 3/8" and 1/2" are the sizes I use most!
You might want to look at getting a Wolverine type sharpening system, with the fingernail/side grind jig to go with it for the Bowl gouges. It will give you/her more consistent grinds than learning to free hand them!
