    Tinting lacquer

    Hi,
I have a refinishing project where the goal is to darken and tune an existing medium stained oak finish. I was thinking the easiest way to do this would be to spray a barrier coat of DW shellac and then either hand apply glaze, or maybe just spray a toner coat or two of tinted lacquer. Does anyone routinely tint lacquer and if so, what tint medium would you recommend?

    Thanks
    Edwin

Edwin I tint Clear WB and DW shellac both with Color FX dyes when needed, also TransTint dyes should work the same.

Any dye stain with the same base as your coating material will work ie water-borne dye with water-borne coating, solvent dye with solvent coatings. Cheers
