Nice to meet another rocket head.

There's "impressive", and then there are Carriers. Whatever word goes beyond impressive, would start to describe a Carrier.
They're just a different kind of special.

One of my great regrets is that my BIL, USN retired master chief had arranged for me to sail with the Midway on her final cruise before being decommissioned. They were scheduled for Hawaii, the Philipines and Japan. My plan was to fly back from Japan. Unfortunately, I couldn't get the time off work.

My experience tells me that Carriers are to be admired and submarines are to be feared.

Watching submarine races with a loved one is more fun then watching carrier races. Especially since they are so few that they seldom get close enough to race.

They do play a lot of "chicken" though.

Earlier this year, I was in San Diego and toured the Midway. There were many retired Navy personnel volunteering their time serving as tour guides and answering questions.

It was easy seeing/hearing their pride and respect for that carrier, its aircraft and in general for the Navy.
    Vortex! What Vortex?
