Looks good Harry!! You know...I was thinking of this very thing today. I don't think there is anything wrong with multiple entries. I was hoping someone would ask! I have altered the rules accordingly.Originally Posted by Harry Pye

Using the Flashlight made all the difference in the world Bill...Thanks!!

OK, so forget what I said about Bill S. , maybe it's John H. who's the ringer...
Hey Chris, you think they made these first and THEN thought up the contest?Originally Posted by Chris Barton

Here's my entry to the contest. It is not the smallest I've done, but I like it. The main wood is Mesquite (so much for straight, tight grain) with Cocobolo laminated to make the base and a detail line in the cup. Detail line is .019" thick. The base piece is .069". The wall thickness of the cup is .042. The rest of the details are in the pictures.
Sorry for 4 pictures, but ther were needed.
1. The whole thing
2. The Height
3. The Base(largest) Diameter
4. The Stem Diameter
Thanks for lookin'

Carole,
You are so right! That John, Bill and Bruce; they are always trying to show us up. And with me, that doesn't take too much effort...

I just got a big lathe and my turnings are getting itty bitty???? Anyway, I had this little stub of walnut left in the chuck tonight, soooo....
It's all done with my 3/8" spindle gouge since I was too lazy to sharpen my skew. Waterlox finish. The sig, species and date are burned. Oh... almost forgot, stem is .09" thick but I couldn't figure out how to get it stable in the caliper and still take a pic.

LOL! Actually, Bill I did find it to be a lot of fun even though I couldn't tell if I had any sanding scratches. That one was easy enough that I feel challenged to go smaller...I think I have a 1/8" spindle gouge somewhere around here so I may look for it tomorrow and go borrow my buddy's jeweler's visor.
OK, OK, now it's, I can't see the sanding scratches . But ya know what, It's really nice, and I can't see any eather. Go for the smaller one. They are fun.

Kinda funny that Carole, after her conspiracy theory suddenly surfaces with a killer piece PLUS molecular-sized woodburned calligraphy!!! Sheesh!! When will it end?
Great job Bruce and Carole.....We got ourselves a game here!!!!
