    Search Question

Is there a way when doing a search here of searching on threads with a multi-word phrase? I was looking for threads with taper jigs and here's what I got:
    "taper jig" No hits
    'taper jig' No hits

    taper+jig
    taper AND jig
    taper jig

All 3 of those got tons of hits, unfortunately most of which had nothing to do with taper jigs (Morse Taper, any sort of jig, tapering on a jointer, etc., etc.)

I've done both. I got lots of hits with the last 3, but most weren't what I wanted. On the advanced Search page there doesn't seem to any way of specifying that you want the whole phrase. What you get is every post with the word taper in it plus every post with the word jig in it.

The same problem still exists. It's just that the Titles Only option presents you with fewer hits. You still get threads for Morse Tapers, etc. Plus with the way threads tend to meander, you'd miss someone's whizbang taper jig in the middle of a post on Cream concerts . I still think there's something missing from the search engine here though. A lot of sites will let you enclose something in quotes to indicate you want an entire phrase or at least give you an option of specifying you want BOTH words in the returned hits. I'm not too sure, but I think the results returned by the search here are a Boolean OR and not even an AND.

    Well...

    There's always www.sawmillcreek.org/google.php

Which is the search flexibility you really want anyway

YEAH! Now thass what I'm talkin bout! Looking at the URL that's formed when I land on Google, I can see how I could use that on other sites too. That's tres cool. Maybe I've been living under a rock, but wasn't aware you could do that by putting the "search?q=taper+jig&domains=sawmillcreek.org&sites earch=sawmillcreek.org" string like that.

    Thanks a lot.
