    Filling stubborn pores

I'm in the process of finishing the top to a federal card table and am padding a 2# cut of shellac for a high gloss finish. I've managed to fill 99% of the pores using a combination of sawdust / shellac and building the finish then sanding back, however I have a handful of pores / small defects that just aren't filling in. I've made up a 4# cut and used an artists brush for spot filling with some success, but I'm getting wary of over sanding spots that have taken multiple fills. None of the remaining low spots are particularly large or deep, they're just don't seem to be filling in. Is there another approach I can take to get these last few spots leveled up or should I stick with spot filling and just try to use a light touch when sanding back?

What about dropping a tiny dot of CA glue in the stubborn pores? Either leave overnight to harden or hit it with some accelerator, then sand flush. It should end up looking about the same as the shellac-filled pores.
