Looking for some know how form folks who have done epoxy finishes.

Following the manufacturer's instructions I vigorously mixed the two part epoxy. There were a lot of bubbles suspended.
I then used the System Three 7" foam roller and spread it all out. I tried using a brush (as instructed) after. No effect.
I used a butane torch (I don't have a propane one). It also didn't seem to have any effect.

The remaining epoxy which I just let setup in the mixing cup and is about a half inch thick is however much clearer, just some very small bubbles at the bottom.
The items I did the seal coat on are the bottom side of shelves which will be subjected to moisture from drying glassware. So I don't care if they are ugly, but when I do the top side, and then after that a section of bar top, I need it to look good.

So, even with this rough bubbly seal coat, will a poured on thick topcoat make it look good? Or did I do something wrong with the seal coat?

And the epoxy that dried in the mixing cup:
