    Old Grizzly DC Motor

I picked up a Grizzly DC ( from 2005 ) which is labeled 110V - 18 amp. / 220V - 9 amp. Model is G1028 , called 1.5 HP . My 2 yr. old 2HP Grizzly DC is 220V - 9 amp . these motors look identical . Is this just another way to fool the buyer , and nothing more ? A name is just a name , look at the power being drawn .

Apparent power input (amperes or VA) may not be related to power output.

This is due to power factor and efficiency in the motor.

    I wouldn’t trust the spec’s on a non name brand motor......Rod

As stated there are a lot of ways to tickle motor label information when you only use some of the variables. I imagine there is some sort of guidance for what items should be displayed. A very inefficient 9amp motor may not deliver what a very efficient one does when the rubber hits the road.
