    New saw plate

I was not able to get that bend/wave out of the 14" Disston and Son back saw I posted about a while back, so I got a replacement plate. I got a 4"x14" (and a 4"x12" plate for a different saw project) from onlinemetals dot com, ~15$ and ~14$ respectively. Seemed like a decent price. They cut to size. I got their 0.025" 1095 blue tempered spring steel. I took off the blue with Muriatic acid today, then cut the little bit off the heel inside the handle I needed to cut off, drilled the holes, smacked back on the saw back so it is equal on the toe and heel ends, and fit the handle. Now I need to cut the teeth. Think I'm going to do 12 TPI, rip cut.

If you plan to use it as a tenon saw, I’d go 11 tpi rip at 6-7 degrees of rake.

There are templates for tooth spacing at > http://norsewoodsmith.com/files/file...-templates.pdf

These were helpful on making fresh teeth on a couple of saw plates.
