Wader's Weekend Accomplishments....

Well....another weekend has come and gone.

I spent some time "around" the shop this weekend and most of that was installing two window air conditioners in the shop so the temp would be lower than 110 degrees inside the shop. The heat index outside last night at 10:15 PM was a mere 103 degrees. Needless to say that my shop is going to be <font color="blue" size="+2">COOL!!!</font> Now it's time to gear up and see what projects I can get finished during this summer since I don't have to have the shop closed until late September anymore.

Well.....at least until after I see the first power bill after running the A/C units.......

No shop time this weekend. Smoked a turkey all day Saturday (no special occasion, just the heck of it). Church and played softball Sunday--man, I need to get in shape. Congrats on the air, Dennis.

Met #1 son, d-in-l and 9 month old grandson at park halfway between our homes, they live in Indy, were in Cleve. Transfered 4' sq sand box w/lid I made for grandson. Had a great time playing with grandson. He is now standing up and walking along things he can hold onto. His calf muscles are hard as rocks. It was beautiful weather for a picnic, about 80 with a light breeze. On their trip home, they got stuck in the traffic jam from that horrible accident on I70. They were going in the other direction, but gawkers caused the backup on their side.

It was hot around here and really humid. Poor A/C worked like a dickens yesterday.

BBQ'd some tasty ribs Staurday night. Spent the first half pretty much doing honey do's. I had planned to work on a built-in, but decided to try and get drop ceiling redone in the shop so I could finish the last leg of the DC upgrade. Especially considering I had a buch of dust to make and was getting tired of eating dust. I got half of the ceiling lowered and two new lights installed. Thought I was basically done with the DC ducting and realized I used a turn where I needed to install a wye and decided that was a good reason to stop for the night. Man, it would be so much easier if the shop was empty.

Well, hopefully I can get the rest done this week so I can get some real WW'ing done and get my messy shop at least respectable.

man I have moved a lot of dirt, I think the pile in my backyard may just be considered a mountain if I were in Ohio The good news is I got the patio area mostly leveles and got the drainage stone and pipe layed behind lower retaining wall. A bit more leveling and then the compacted stone base and stoned dust can take care of the rest.

Did a bit of work on a shaker mirror, but couldn't find my compass to draw a curve I needed, spent most of the shop time cleaning trying to find the compass...never did find it but got one more load of trash out of the shop.

Oh took a nice nap on Sunday and then watched the end of the race.

After hanging around home and shop most of the week ocasionally helping the backhoe operator install a new septic system for our new bedroom bath and also for my much needed shop restroom, [gloat?] I went to grizzlys scratch and dent sale saturday and managed to wear my feet out completly. Monday moring and my feet are still killing me. Also got in some more walnut staircase balisters made on this staircase from h---, making a total of over 125 of them now, with more to go. Steve

Mornin' all,

The heat changed most of our weekend plans. We scrapped the idea of going to the outdoor musical Saturday night so we wouldn't have to sweat our way through it. I did get one side of my bench drilled for dogs. Hauled in a load of mulch that LOML spread. Had our 8 week old grandson here a large part of the weekend, which we thoroughly enjoyed.

GLOAT! After reading all the posts lately, including Dennis', I said the heck with it and bought an air conditioner for the shop Saturday evening. Got up Sunday morning cut a hole through the wall and installed a dedicated circuit for it. Son helped me put the unit through the wall last night and it works great! I am so looking forward to working in a COOL shop tonight. Of course, now that I have it the highs are supposed to drop down to around 90 the middle of this week. May have to get the winter clothes out!

Don't tell me that you northern guys know how to smoke meat. Just kidding! I'll trade you recipe for smoked pork shoulder for your turkey recipe.

Finished the wiring on the kitchen renovation, took care of some small carpentry items, actually found a drywaller with not only availability but a reasonable price (I'm subbing that out 'cause I hate to do it), opened up the floor under where the base cabinets will be to take care of some old rot and provide access for the gas line installation and put in a temporary sink. We are now officially "without a stove and kitchen sink", although we ordered the new range and DW on Friday night.

I can see light at the end of the tunnel...'cept that tunnel is still very long out in front of me!!

Too smokey?? I don't believe that's possible!!!

To be honest, this was my first go-around with a turkey. I'm not a big recipe type, I've just learned more-or-less what things work well together and just wing it. For this bird, I just got the smoker up and going with charcoal and hickory chunks, then tossed 'er on. About halfway thru (9 hrs, 13-lb bird), I injected it with a sauce of butter, olive oil, garlic, honey, white pepper, RedHot, cooked for a few minutes on the stove to get the garlic into the sauce and to bring it up to temp so it wouldn't cool off the bird when I injected it. Was yummy.

The only thing I accomplished this weekend was to 'stove-up' (a Southern expression) my back. Ouch !! ** <p align="center">
