    Router Bits?

Decided to get a router instead of the rotary tool attachment, so...
have a question on the bit(s) I need.

I need to router out some rectangular (rounded ends are not a problem)slots (2 1/2" by 1" so that Sawtooth Hanger Hooks will fit inside) on the back of some wood plaques so they will lie flat on the wall when hung up.

What router bits would I need? Was looking for bits that will leave a flat bottom slot but am not sure which kind I am looking for. I don't want round or v-groved bits as then the hooks won't lay flat on the wood.

    Suggestions?

    Thanks,

    James

You might try something like this and save a couple of steps:

A straight bit, 1" in diameter, that cuts a flat bottom is a good choice, like this one:
