The gun case is finally done!!!

Well, after all of my bugging you for advice and just generally making a pest of myself here it is. I think it turned out fairly nice. There are a couple of minor "issues" but it was a good learning experience.

Walnut and maple construction with box joints at the corners. Finish is as follows:

2 coats of thinned spar urethane followed by a light sanding; 3 coats of full strength spar with a light sanding between coats followed by 2 more coats of the thinned urethaneand finally a coat of wax.

By the way the lazer engraved insert was done by Bruce Volden. He lurks around here a bit and does GREAT work. THANKS BRUCE!!!

Let me know what you think. I hope it raises a lot of money at our Ducks Unlimited banquet this Saturday!

Absolutely beautiful work Royce! Good luck with your fundraiser! I've been involved with the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and fundraisers can be kind of fun!

Looks fantastic. I love the use of the contrasting woods. Good luck at your banquet.

    Thanks for the compliment!

Ordered the "egg-crate" foam from McMaster-Carr.

Their part # 85365K47. They have several types of the convotuted foam. This particular one seemed to work well.

I'd have to bring my shooting skills up quite a bit to brave taking a case as nice as that anywhere public.

    Thanks for the kind words.

Actually, since the case is being donated to a fundraising event, I hope the person who gets it will have parted with a fair amount of cash!

    Royce,

As a veteran attendee of quite a few DU banquets over the years, I have no doubt that your guncase will be a hit! Congratulations on producing a work of art for a good cause.

    Very nice.

Are they going to raffle it or auction it?

That thing is just too nice. Now you need to make another case to protect the first case.
