    Mystery tool

I have had this tool for many years and have no idea what it is used for. I believe it was made in the 1950’s, but there are no markings on it. It has about a 1/2” internal diameter. It is not a punch tool as the end is blunt and the handle ends show no signs of being hit with a mallet. Any idea what it is?

Some type of deburring or chamfering tool?

How hard is the material and is it sharp on the inside edges where it's ground?

It is hard. Somewhat dull now, but believe it was sharp when new. The only use I could come up with is using it is like the picture, but that’s just a guess.

Could it be a dowel cutter or dowel pointer?

Thanks for the input. I was also thinking maybe something to do with a dowel, but that’s a guess. Amazing how many mystery tool are out there. This one was manufactured, so it must have had some purpose.

I think it is still a mystery so far.

This seems logical. It’s likely intended to ease edges on curved work, and specifically on inside curves.
