I must be searching the wrong wording because I can't find these anywhere other than YouTube and forums:

This forum post has both Panhans and SCM. They look extremely useful for those of us without sliding tables.

Thoughts on where to find these? I'm assuming they are pricey new, wondering about the used market. Looks like I can't even find them new though.

There are also older version of both of the above (that appear *very* rarely on the used market) and I have seen a version branded Leitz (?) somewhere I think.

I recently found a vintage, cast iron Wadkin version on UK eBay (thanks Brent) for basically $1k including freight ($700 + $300 freight) but have yet to set it up.

What size / length tenons and stock are you planning to tenon? You can do cabinet door sized stuff easily and simply with a plywood, shop built coping sled and toggle clamps running against fence or miter slot in the table, but beyond that the general consensus is you need more mass, clamping security and a more fixed lateral sliding setup.

Thanks much. So I wasn't far off and they are rare (used or new)

I'll keep looking around for ideas on the sled. I'd like to be able to make simple shaker cab doors for a start.

Andrew for cabinet doors, a $200+ coping sled would easily suffice. I almost bought the infinity sled a few years ago, but made one out of leftover plywood and spare toggle clamps instead. It worked perfectly for a built in project a couple years ago. Mine registers off the shaper fence, which most coping sleds do. For tenons etc, that isnt always feasible and thats when you get into the capabilities of the sliding tables etc. Half the time, the fence isnt part of the equation for those operations.

I have sliding tables, and still use a coping sled for cabinet rails.

I'll second the Aigner contermax, I've found it to be fast and reliable when modified a bit as per Mike D's approach. Works ok from the factory but better when tweaked. I'll see if I can find the thread about it. I have found the Panhans attachment for around 3300 in Europe if I recall.
