    To be Presentable on Parade...

A British Officer on Campaign would need a small chest to hold all the items needed to "keep up appearances" each morning....a trip to the Old Army & Navy Store to buy a small chest similar to this..

Would be ordered...along with all the accouterments needed for grooming and shining things up...sturdy handles...

And a simple latch...as anything with a Padlock would draw too much attention to itself...no hinge screws would be shown, to attract a Thief's Screwdriver..

Open the lid...to find a mirror to shave with...

And a tray to hold the mundane items....(item to line the tray in green felt, Later)

That tray can pivot up and forward..to reveal a lower tray of more personal items..

Which, if need be, can be lifted out, and set upon the main tray...but..

Another tray, that stays hidden, normally, can be slid to the back...and the Officer's Valuables can be hidden here..like his Army Pay....tray has a simpler construction..
    The Trays PIP, Handle details.JPG
can be lined, or left plain.
Close this all up, and be ready to move to the next Camp Site...

Made from Ash...Stain is Amber Shellac, followed by a coat of Witch's Brew...

I like this, great choice of simple hardware.
These are usually referred to a a "Ditty Box"

My only critique would be the mirror. IMHO, it would be fitted with some sort of straps so it could be removed and hand held, not simply glued in. But that's just me nit picking.
