    Yappy dog catches the car

Always asking for crotches and burls. May have caught the car with this one

Base is about 30X24. There's another branch behind the chainsaw and the saw is sitting on a cut off crotch.

Now where do I cut that first bowl blank?

It could be that there is no good way, only the best way. I have never been lucky when trying to hack up good blanks from crotch cuttings that have more than 2 legs. Of course, I may not be doing it correctly, but it seems that when more than 2 legs, the extra legs seem to cause some kind of problems, whereas 2 legs often times can provide some fabulous herringbone, or feather, type figure. Some others may have more experience than I.... let's wait and see

In my experience the optimal cut is through or (near) the pith of the two largest branches. It may require a longer bar than you have on that saw. What you make will be decorative as opposed to utilitarian so knots, cracks and pith are of somewhat less of a concern than otherwise.
