    Wall Mounted Jewelry Cabinet

For a friend. She has a lot of rings apparently since "lotsa ring pegs" was one of the design parameters. She sent me photos of their current bedroom furniture, the location where this will mount to the wall, and asked me to make her a "Glenn-type" cabinet that would fit in.

I made one of those door hanging helpers out of Woodsmith magazine. Glad to report that this thing really is a big help.

    Door and pulls on.

I made off with some of the wife's stuff to show how the thing works. The owner has a large collection of family rings. I scrounged every ring I could find and didn't even have one for each peg let alone multiples but, you get the idea.

So, primarily walnut and maple. Ebony plugs on the sides, brass rods for the tilt-out and pull pivots, brass screws for the pulls, and antique brass for the hanger hardware and hinges. The pulls are walnut saddles with bocote pendants.

Thanks Ken. BTW, I still get a laugh when I occasionally tell the "I'm not drunk, I'm a cyborg" story.

Glenn, I tell that story often.

Once on a cochlear implant user forum after I had been implanted with $168,000 billed to my insurance company, I asked why kids got a Bilateral Melody (a soft cloth monkey doll that has bilater implants) and adults didn't. A couple days later, Fedex delivered an unplanned package to me. You guessed it! So, then Bilateral Melody began her travels. First she went to Houston where our twin 12 month old granddaughters could play with her and remove/reattach her sound processors. Then, after posting pictures of her at the aforementioned website, she began her travels around the country. In fact, one year when she traveled to the DC area to help my wife and daughter put wreaths on the graves at Arlington National Cemetary, she caused my wife and daughter to receiver verbal reperscussions when Melody jumped on the fence around the White House for a photo op. She was photographed in quite a few states before she retired. LOL!

I’m sure she loves all the storage … I love the crotch walnut panels!

I like the pulls a lot better in the pictures than I expected from the text. I never would have though of that, but it looks really nice I think.

Love the design and execution! Really like the proportion symmetry of door panels. Exposed joinery and pulls are truly custom touches representative of true craftsman excellent! Thanks for sharing the pics.
