Just as I thought - 2 lathes are better than one

I put my newly acquired Woodfast M408H lathe to the test this afternoon working on a pet urn for a family member. The second lathe came in real handy while working on a threaded top. The only complaint is the different spindle sizes. I'm still on the lookout for a short body Vicmarc with a M33 spindle, which would make the setup perfect.

I'll jump in with 6 but only 4 of them are wood lathes.

Just add a spindle adaptor so that all of your lathes can use the same chucks.

But, if you are needing an excuse to buy a Vicmarc that is another matter...

Great idea on the adapter but not so fast. I tried finding an adapter to go from an M33x3.5 spindle to 1 1/4 x 8 but couldn't find one. Going in the other direction is easy peasy. Any idea on a source?

No excuse needed on the Vicmarc. I'm committed to finding one come he** or high water.

I have the Baxter Threading jig. I find a second mini lathe essential for threading. I can leave my thread cutter on one lathe, and have the other for all of the turning rather than taking the cutter off and on, and off and on...... I only have 6 lathes..... The wood lathe is the best Christmas present I ever got myself.

Steve, I think you have written it both ways in your posts, "from an M33x3.5 spindle" and " from 1 1/4 x 8 (female)":

If it is going from 1 1/4 x 8 (female) to fit your headstock to M33x3.5 (male) to fit your chucks, there seems to be very few options. The only one I could find was the following, see part number AD-204...

    https://bestwoodtools.store.turbify....tspadwith.html

Expensive, but no more than, for example, a double adaptor.

But, if it is going the other way then the Nova adaptor will do it...

Other Nova/Teknatool retailers may also have it.

Oneway confirmed for me in an email this morning that they don't make what I need. I ordered the proper adapter from Best Wood Tools yesterday and they even confirmed within a few hours on Sunday that it was the right one. With that kind of response I may order their threading jig.
