Roger H. Siminoff, What An Impressive Guy!

I am excited to finally be reading the published works of Roger H. Siminoff. I am embarrassed to have only recently discovered his body of work. His writing is wonderfully straight forward. His knowledge is very extensive. I highly recommend his How To publications.

His banjo and mandolin building books are great, and I'm sure the others are too. My mother gave me a copy of his Ultimate Bluegrass Mandolin Construction Manual about 15 years ago and an A style version of what he shows was the first "real" instrument I built after a few years of harps and dulcimers.

A client recently had me use Siminoff straight up strings on his banjo. He is very pleased. I also watched Steve Huber's "Killer Tone" instructional DVD on banjo setup. There are so many subtle details to learn about instruments. Roger Siminoff (or someone at the company) occasionally contributes on MandolinCafe. I look forward to getting his Mandolin books.
