Delta sanding centre 31-280C table gap

    Hi,
I am trying to maintain this old Delta sanding machine. The gaps between the tables and the sanders (both disc and belt), are large (> 1/4"). I tried loosing the hex bolts holding the tables in place, but that only gets a tiny bit of movement (reading the manual, this is the only approach.)
Am I missing something? Is there a way to adjust the tables?
    Thanks for any help!

I have increased the slots to allow more range solve this. I like the gap at about a credit card thickness. Rattail file should do you.

It is unsafe to have large gaps.

Thanks - that is probably the only solution.

1/4" is not a large gap unless you are sanding 1/8" wood.
