    Sanding solid surface material

Can I use aluminum oxide sandpaper or do I need a silicone based grit paper? I've done this before, just can't remember. Thanks brian

I shape and sand Corian on belt and disc sanders using aluminum oxide and now sometimes zirconia abrasives, and it sands nicely with either. I'm not sanding a whole countertop, just making little pieces and sanding them down to fit on instruments.

I have always used good quality regular woodworking sandpaper. Scotch Brite and the random orbit sander became shop necessities as soon as we started working with Corian. Dupont recommends Trizact Film discs. Trizact is waterproof aluminum oxide.

Thanks Zach. This is what I thought I did last time, but needed to make sure. Appreciate it. Brian
