    Help!!

I cannot for the life of me figure out what this is! Measures 18in in length and has a “72 1/2” cast into the sole under the tote. No other markings. Anyone have any idea what this is????

Whatever it is Claude Raines probably owned it before you did.

Looks like the base for a #6 plane, type 4 though 8. That would only be if it was made by Stanley. It could be someone else's #6 sized plane.

The tall knob would be wrong. I'm not sure if Stanley used this base for their other lines made under contract for other retailers.

At 18" it looks like a no. 6 sized plane. They put all kinds of production marks on the casts of planes. If it wasn't meant to be seen, it wasn't a branding mark.
