    Road Trip Finds

2 road trips actually. One was to the Springfield, OH area's 2 Antique Malls...the other was after a doctor's visit...

Goodies from the first trip....and it wasn't a cheapy, either..
Springfield Road Trip, 3 of 4.jpg
    3 of the 4 items...
Springfield Road Trip, 4th of 4.jpg
    And these were the 4th..
Springfield Road Trip, 2 of 4.jpg
These 2 were $23...the ring of dies was $10...and that Stanley No. 66 was $70....it does have a cutter ,and a fence.
The Square is a Stanley 4". The little block plane is from New Haven, CONN. Looks like a #102 size?

Because those dies are 3/4" in diameter..meant I needed a holder for them ( Amazon will deliver one tomorrow, BTW) so I went on a road trip, first to the Cardio Doctor...then to Menards..
3 NEW Items, router bit, project boards.jpg
No holder, but..this might come in handy...then back to Bellefontaine, OH. Checked Lowes...No holder, but..
    March Project Start, 4 boards.jpg
    4 boards...$5 each plus change..1/2" x 6" x 24" Project Lumber...from New Zealand, no less...

Checked the Farm Supply stores..nada...stopped in at Harbor Freight...no holder, but these were on sale..
    3 NEW Items, H-F Chisel set.jpg
    $10.71, counting tax..

Was a LONG couple of days....Boss is now at my Daughter's house...and getting Home Health Care there..

Now IF anyone wants to see all the goodies I did NOT buy....at the 2 malls...be warned, there is a couple dozen pictures...
    Teaser?

Nice scores! I'm particularly interested in the little block plane (I am from New Haven originally). Does it say Sargent on it? Or C.E. Jennings? They're the only metal plane manufacturers from New Haven that I can think of. But there was a lot of industry there and I haven't really looked into it. I do have an old slick and a framing chisel from the New Haven Edge Tool Company, but I've never heard that they made planes. Of course, lots of the companies made tools that were private labeled for other companies, so it gets a bit tangled.

    Great scores!

Note the 2 barrels in the above post? Well..
Springfield Road Trip, end of Room 8.jpg
Glass case is locked...he keeps the high dollar stuff in there...
    That green basket..
Springfield Road Trip, squares and things.jpg
And, note the HUGE plane behind that basket?

    Also..this row of shelves..
Springfield Road Trip. LOTS of shelves.jpg
    Is just to the right..
    Springfield Road Trip, Right wall.jpg
However, I would suggest a pair of Kevlar Gloves, before you go poking around in there..

He has a second booth..and has another of those green baskets..
Springfield Road Trip, be sure to look down.jpg
    Careful where you walk..
    Springfield Road Trip, Tripping Hazard.jpg
Not a whole lot of room in some of these booths..

First photo..clear down on the end in the corner?
    Springfield Road Trip, left wall.jpg
Up on the top shelf..is a row of wood bodied Molding planes..and a couple of these...
    Springfield Road Trip, Fancy plane.jpg
    Be right back..Booth #2 details..

His other booth was more for the Mechanics out there...I was looking at the top of a "Chestof Drawers"
Spring field Road Trip, Upper half.jpg
Yes, all them drawers all full, BTW....then I looked down, in case there was a tripping hazard..
    Springfield Road Trip, lower half.jpg
Then looked to the "entrance" of this booth..
Springfield Road Trip. full shelves 1.jpg
Then turned the corner into the booth..
    Springfield Road Trip. Sockets, Screwdrivers.jpg
The one on the left is all sockets...the one on the right is all screwdrivers....Once inside this booth (watch out for that little stool)...
Springfield Road Trip, worth digging through.jpg
And turned to the right..this is the "backside" of that "Chest of Drawers"....and where the set of dies came from...just couldn't find the correct holder...

Their are 8 buildings/rooms in Heart of Ohio Antique Center...this was just one room...

    Room #5?

Walking along #5..saw this sitting outside a booth..
Springfield Road Trip, Bench for sale.jpg
Looked it over a bit ( no room in the Chevy for it)
Springfield Road Trip, Bench, other end.jpg
Had this vise down on the end, and..
Springfield Road Trip, Bench, tool well.jpg
A wide Tool Well along the backside, with a clean-out ramp to boot..took a look inside this booth..
    Springfield Road Trip, Blacksmith's tools.jpg
All Blacksmith tools...wall above these is filled with Cast Iron Skillets....

    Another seller had a basket..
Springfield Road Trip, basket of planes.jpg
Sitting beside the Jack plane and the Block plane..
    Springfield Road Trip, Plane details.jpg
Is an Ohio Tool Co. No. 4-1/2...with a "repaired" lever cap..and a $72 price tag...As I already have 2 planes in the 4-1/2 size, in very good shape...decided someone else can fix it up..
    Springfield Road Trip, Drills, plane.jpg
    4 brace drills I didn't need, a Scorp and 2 planes...
    Springfield Road Trip, 2 planes.jpg
Decided to walk on by...Smoother is a Fulton....woodie is a bit too long for me...
    Stay tuned..

About once a month on this site, I go through this Photo BS....then I have to go back and re-load them...NOTHING has been changed on my end...seems to be a site problem.

I can see them now. Maybe it was just me. ?? I'd love to have some shops like that within a drive's distance from me. Thanks for letting me live vicariously through your rust hunt.

It looks like it could be this one:

    Sargent-Number-206-Block-Plane-1.jpg
