New Dewalt DW735 - Wood and Metal Shavings on Baseplate

I picked up a new DW735X (type 12 from China) on sale. I can confirm it was not returned as it still had the hard plastic wrap in place on the box.

During initial inspection I discovered the remnants from an obligatory test cut. I also discovered metal shavings, flakes and "crumbs". Needless to say I returned it and picked one up from a different source. This new one is from Taiwan.

While I suspect the first unit was functionally fine, I didn't want to deal with dodging metal particulate. Anyone else discover this sort of thing?

I just wanted to let anyone looking for a planer know they should take a good close look at the "dust" present from any test cut.

    Cheers!

How were you able to get the second one from Taiwan? Or was it just "the luck of the draw"?
I ask because when it comes time for me to get one I prefer to get it from Taiwan and not China.
