    Consumer Product Safety Commission

In the news this morning, the government is going to mandate saw stop technology on all table saws as it supposedly has the votes to pass.

Saw stop owners will allow it's patents to expire if the law passes.

It appears they will mandate blade brakes on table saws. I doubt they are requiring use of any specific technology such as Saw Stop. Government rarely specifies a specific vendor or technology. They just tell manufacturers what safety specification their item must meet. LED light bulbs were never mandated. Government just put out an efficiency standard that light bulbs needed to meet.
