    Spalted Hackberry HF

After seeing Travis's spalted Sweetgum HF a few days ago
    http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=30359 it
made me want to find something spalted!! I found
a piece of spalted Hackberry and tried to turn it into
a HF, don't think it is quite a true HF, it's mouth is
pretty wide. The coloring doesn't come close to Travis's
piece but my Loml likes it . The bottom still needs a
little more sanding and blending which I will do tonight.
    Thanks for looking....

The bottom, it needs more work!:

Mike I like the rolled lip, the nice curve on the HF, and the wood is so beautiful. How big is it?

  5. Very nice, Mike! Hackberry is some neat wood, to me. You did a great job on this one. Nice spalting, for sure.

    Thanks for the pictures!

    Hi Mike,

Your turning is outstanding. I just love what the wood has to say. The foot allows it to display very proudly.

Just thinking, (which becomes more difficult day by day), as you seem to be somewhat undecided as to weather or not it's a hollow form or not.
You may well have opened up a new category for forms. A turning that is in limbo, which would put it in a class of its own, an "HB" = Hollow Bowl.

Any way, what ever you wish to call it, I like the form, how can one not.
    A great piece,

Nice HB, Mike. Lotsa action in that wood.

I have a ton of HBs that were supposed to have been HFs.

Looks good Mike! Love how the spalting makes the wood look. The opening is smaller than the diameter so it must be a hollow form.

Excellent piece, Mike! FWIW, I always thought forms like that are indeed HF's. Regardless of what you call it, I'll call it "Beautiful"! Great job.
