    This Weeks Tool (Shop-made)

I know I said the next tool I would make this week would be a skew,
But after trying to hollow out a piece today with a swanneck
I decided to make a better hollowing tool. The handle is more
of the same Oak 15", the shaft is 8 1/2" x 1" x 3/8. Cut the tang with
a hack saw.....if I keep doing this I will need something better to cut with!! Shaped it on the grinder which wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. It
cuts great! Here's some pics of the tool.

    What I needed it for:

Mike, Great job on the tool, looks like a real hogger.

I like how you get the chips to pile up so neatly on the back table.

Mike how much clearance do you have from the cutting edge to the under side of the tool?? Whats the approximate angle of relief? Or is it square and the tool held at an angle?

Jim, it is not square, it does have an angle but I didn't measure the
degree. I just ground it till it resembled what i've seem for sale at
the "I can't afford that" stores. I'll check it tonight and will take a pic
of it turned on it's side. I got lucky as it worked great the first time
straight from the grinder....well I did hone it a tiny bit with a diamond...

John, I know that you hold the patened on the "Ugly Stick". Didn't
want to infringe and...lawyers, drawn out court battles..etc... .

Quin, the wrapper around the bar said 4142.
