I'm trying to finish finishing (no pun intended) an AV stand I'm working on and rubbing the Spar/tung/turp is not filling the grain. I'm wondering if someone has any suggestions of products I could switch to that would go over it.

What kind of wood? Where will the finished piece be used?
What is your mix of varnish, oil, and turpentine? How many coats have you applied, and what method have you been using?
