15" planer bed height lock ?

Not sure if this feature is on all the 15" and above planers, but how many of you use the 2 knobs on the left of the machine that lock down the depth of cut. It looks like a lot of engineering went into this feature, but I can't say I've ever used it. My bad?

I use the two on my Jet 15" all the time.
