    Missing pages

I am experiencing an odd thing on the forum. Page 2 of the turners forum is blank. Page one of the general woodworking is blank. I can pull up other pages but these continue to be blank. Is this my machine or is it occuring elsewhere?

Don't know about missing pages, as I checked and they are there, but I'm getting a blank page when I click on some posts and/or pictures. I do a back page and may or may not get the page back. Guess that's something for Aaron to work on.

    Doug,
Tonight I have had more than a fair number of pages come up blank, but if I refresh the page, all is well.

Same thing here ........ I'm using FireFox as my browser and several pages coming up blank (Seems to be random). Been using Firefox for a long time, this is the first time this has happened......... guessing the problem is on the SMC side.

I'm thinking that it has something to do with Stu Ablett's site being down. Maybe not....

It is unlikely the issue is at "your end", per se, although it could be ISP response. Browsers do time out when retrieving information and I suspect that is what is happening to you, regardless of the reason. Aaron has been trying to track down an intermittent server issue that was causing very slow responses and I don't know if it's been solved.

As an aside, I just had it happen to me on the first page of the General Woodworking forum. Hitting my refresh button brought the page up.

Jim, you are correct in that Firefox times out rather quickly..... but this was not a timeout like I've seen before (with a timeout you get an error message), it comes up a blank page.

    Hasn't happened yet this evening................

BTW: anyway to increase the 'timeout' period in Firefox ??

We think the problem lies in our servers network adapter. Aaron is going to spec out a new NIC card and we are going to install two, then load balance them.

I am also in the process of building a second server for SMC so we can break up the load and improve performance. I hope we can get both done at the same time so we can plan only one server outage. In the mean time using refresh in your browser will normally load the page properly.
