    Drilling Holes Through Bowls

Liz wants to attach a bowl to the top of a spindle and use it for a bird feeder. She saw a picture of one in a magazine and wants to make some to sell at craft shows. Anybody got any ideas about what type of bit to use? I was thinking either cobalt or tin coated? I'm sure a regular old bit won't work.

Thanks in advance for your help.

What material are the bowls made of?

Chuck it up in the headstock, put the drill chuck in the tailstock. Select the correct bit turn on the lathe and drill away....

Oh wait thats the other forum. Yea what kind of material is it?

Larry, how about a piece of copper pipe of the correct diameter, cut to length, chucked in the drill press. Use valve grinding compound and it should make perfect holes without shattering or cracking the bowl.
