Drum Sander Paper Source, 4" wide rolls????

I am now the proud owner of a nearly new PM 225 25" Dual Drum Sander. Where do you drum sander users/abusers get your paper? I know Klingspor is supposed to be good, but I can only find it on their retail store website in an 18M roll. I'd like to buy a longer roll to limit waste. Any other brand that's good? Sources? thanks...joe

I buy sanding belts that are close to the length needed and cut them into strips. At least in my experience the paper seems to be a little tougher than some in rolls.

Last time I think I ordered belts was from woodworkers supply but they were 6" belts.

I just measured an existing belt and found one that was just over 3x as long.

I have this machine. 3" x 14' 7" per drum. You don't need to use 4". Opens up a few more choices.

    DDS-225 Paper source

I have the DDS-225 and couldn't find 4 inch wide sandpaper rolls so I use 3 inch wide sandpaper. Works fine. You can't tell the difference.

With 3" rolls, I assume you have to cut the ends different than with a 4" roll, correct?

You cut the taper to the circumfrence of the drum. Cut the first taper before you cut the paper from the roll. If its wrong, you have only wasted a few feet.

Mine has 5" drums. I tapered it 15 1/2". Seemed to work okay..

I went into a tool store today to get an 89" belt. They sell Steel City.

They had Klingspor 4" rolled sandpaper for drum sanders in 163' rolls.

$149.00 per roll. 80 grit through 180 in stock.

So its out there if you want it.

You should need 11' - 12' per wrap (if my old math skills still work) so its not really that bad.
