Funny thing happened on the way to the dust collector

Following is my duhhh story for the year . . . I have a Jet 2 HP dust collector (model 1100, I think). Over the weekend I was jointing some cherry and didn't pay any attention to the dust collector. It would have be easier if I had. The dust collector was completely full. Now when I say 'full', I mean it was FULL - All the way to the top of the TOP bag. I didn't know that was even possible. What a mess it was to empty!

Am I the only guy that has ever done this? Come on fess up!!

I've over filled the bin on my cyclone a couple of times...and it wasn't pretty since the blow-by absolutely stuffed the cartridge filter. Talk about a pain in the butt to clean out! Stuffed!

    So...you are NOT alone!

Yep, big mess. I put a bin level indicator on my drum now, so hopefully it won't happen again.

Wow! Both top and bottom bags were completely filled?! Wow again! I bet it looked like it was running even when turned off.

    How about this one...

I haven't quite figured out how I want to lay out my DC ducting, so I've got a lot of temporary set-ups. To collect dust at my miter saw, I used to have to unhook my flexible duct from the PVC pipe that ran to the rest of my machines and plug it into the miter saw port. Well, I forgot to plug it back into the PVC duct when it was time to plane some cedar boards. My DW735 planer ejects chips out so well, that I didn't even notice any backup. The chips shot out the end of the PVC pipe and completely covered the wall behind the dust collector. I finally noticed it when I was finished and went to turn off the DC. Aaaaargh!

    Keith,
You and I are very different. I would have just layed down in the pile of chips, had a beer and called it a day.

One man's mess, is another man's opportunity.
