Wanted Dead or Alive(WDA): Stainless steel fastners (bolts)

This may not sound woodworking related but it is. Does anybody know where to buy stainless steel bolts at a good price online? I am restoring a northfield jointer and replacing the fastners with stainless steel. Need an assortment of diameters and lengths. Usual stuff in english pitch. Thanks in advance.

    SS Bolts

I have used boltdepot.com with great luck. They even take back what you don't use.

    Dev,

I haven't dealt with this company (usually buy what I need from a local fastener supplier here in town) but they do have prices posted.

    Good luck!

Two I use for construction fasteners are:

Looks like Manasquan may have what you are looking for.

McFeely's has a fair amount of general fasteners. I just ordered some 1/4x20 SS stuff from them and I was suprised at the price compared to the local hardware store--considerably lower, and based on previous experience with McFeely's, I'll they will be better quality too.

    Jamestown distributors

I have found that the marine industry often has great SS fasteners. They can't take any chances in the salt environment. Jamestown distributors has always worked well for me. Used to live down the street from them but otherwise not affiliated.

I echo what Steve said. Do you have a West Marine (or other big marine supply house) near you? They always have a good supply of bolts/nuts/washers etc.

    Dev,
It is quite expensive to approach or equal the strengths of Gr. 5, 8 and > tempered fasteners with stainless steel.

    One source of comparative specs:

It's not on line, but I find a wide array of stainless steel bolts, nuts and washers at Ace Hardware. Their pricing on small boxes is pretty good. Individual piece prices are not cheap, but it is convenient.

one thing to keep in mind is ss bolts are not as strong as steel bolts they are also not as hard. good luck.

These are my two favorite sources for all things fastener:

    http://www.mcmaster.com/

    http://www.olander.com/

    They both have SS hardware.
