    garage door

Any suggestion on wood to use on a better built door to my shop. It's a normal size but the present door is showing weakness. Harry

Cypress is what I used. Fairly light weight and very rot resistant.

I know it's not wood and you wouldn't get to build it but the fiberglass doors by Thermatru are indestrictible, insulated and weather tight. Plus you don't have to paint if you dont want-just leave the factory white color. Hope I haven't made you too sick.

My first wood choice for exterior door construction is cypress, then mahogany, clear heart redwood, red cedar and pine. Maybe white oak as it does ok with the moisture and very strong. Cypress is choice. Good luck.
