Where do you guys buy your faceplates!

I'm in the middle of putting my vacuum chuck together and need to buy some faceplates.Any help would be great.

I've never bought from Grizzley so I don't know how good they are, but the price is right. Being aluminum, I think you can square the face if it is off a lil bit.

    Sure beats $18 at Rocklers.

you can square off the cast iro0n ones just fine with your regular turning tools, it is just a bit hard on the edge. In my opinion if you are going to be using faceplates for vac chucking you will do best buying a tap to fit your spindle. They are fairly cheap on ebay and let you quickly & easily make customizeable pieces.

You won't be finding any 1 1/4" x 8 TPI taps anywhere cheap!

You can if you know where to look. I bought most of mine locally 1x8 1.25x8 and 1.5x8 at $5, $5 and $10. But since most of you don't have access to mendelsons I suggest you keep an eye on ebay for them I have seen plenty of the big ones for under $20. While I am not sure I would trust the foreign made ones on ebay for precision metal working, but for our lathe work they are just fine. Even if you pay $50 for one at MCS, granger or SnapOn they quickly pay for themselves in terms of how useful they are as opposed to using a limited supply of metal ones.

BTW If anyone is wanting a larger tap PM, I will be off to mendelsons (the place to get every last piece of equipment for building battle bots)probably next week and I can look. These tend be quality steel tapes too. And I Also have 2 extra 3/4x10 taps if anyone wants to make accessories for their oneway center.

I use Don Pencil's faceplates for general utility. Reasonable price, etc.

The most expensive tool is the one you buy "cheaply" and often...

I love Dons stuff ,but i've been waiting for my stinger set to add to my Scropion for over 2 months now! He call me right after i ordered and he told me it would be a week before it got sent. Sent several emails with no responce. I hope he's OK! I wanted to order his buffing system but I'm going wait to see what happens!

I have a Griz aluminum faceplate, best dollar value around. And with aluminum you can attach your work with hot glue and then remove later without holes or marks.
