    When I broke my finger on a Natural Edge Vase a couple months ago, I calculated the tip speed of the vase at less than 20 MPH. The incident happened so fast that I didn't have time to pee my pants....Just stood there stunned. 214 MPH....Holy cow!

    10' lathe

    I looked up the Oliver 26 and it's speed ranged from 64 rpm to 1450 rpm. With a big chunk of wood on the faceplate the sound and wind that thing puts off is very impressive and also very scary. Speed is much more important on large diameter work.
