Photos Engraved On Marble and Granite

How durable is the image you guys that do, engraved on marble and granite? Can the piece be put outside in the weather? I know marble will degrade over time because of acid content in rainwater. How about granite? Anyone done any tests?

Photos Engraved On Marble and Granite

I haven't done a test, but one of the first jobs I did on my laser just about two years ago was a granite tile memorial that was placed flat on the ground on a concrete pad at the garden of a preschool. My wife and I were on a walk the other day and passed by and took a look at it, and it looked like the day I did it.

I was about to ask the same question and noticed this thread.

    Joe,
Now that it's 3 1/2 years from the last post and over 5 years since lasering - how does the tile look? Any degradation?

I am very VERY excited to hear about how well it has lasted!

Go walk through a cemetery, That will give you a idea of how long granite will last out doors.. The laser sketch 'marble' is actually a type of granite and will also last outdoors.. Real marble will oxidize..
