    Removing resin from sanding belts

Does anyone know a way to get wood resin off of cloth sanding belts. I tried one of those crepe rubber things and it gets the dust off but not the hard resin from exotic woods. I thought I heard somewhere that cloth belts can be soaked or washed out or something. Anyone know??

Soak in Simple Green for about 30 minutes (over night is OK).

    Use stiff brush if needed.

Rinse with water and hang dry.

Simple green took the skin off my hands when I tried scrubbing the belts, so I tried my power washer... worked great, often without any solvent beyond hose water. Works for drum sander belts (I lay then out on the driveway) as well as "belt sander belts"

Quality made cloth sanding belts on overhead sanders are often taken to the car wash using the high pressure sprayer. common practice when using pine especially in a water bed production companies.

Using a scrap piece of plywood sanding the cross section will remove build up and glue on overhead and drum sander belts. Works the same for "burn in" if caught early...Jack
