Best place to purchase PC framing nailer

I'm looking to purchase the Porter Cable full head nailer (FR350A) and am looking for the best price. Amazon prices seem kind of steep on this model. Anybody have other recommendations for places to try. I always like purchasing things locally but my local sources only carry the clipped head version even though they do carry full head nails.

Wes, since you are in Marysville, try The Andersons in Columbus. I got mine at The Anderson's in Toledo a few years ago. While you are there you can buy great meat, fresh vegtables, hundreds of beers and wines, and a Unisaw. Its one of my favorite places to shop and it is an Ohio company.

What's the difference between the clipped head and the round head, that would make you steer away from the clipped head?

If I may Craig, in some localities, the clip head nails are not code compliant. Also, if the area/material to be nailed off is exposed, the clip head nails look a little funny as well.

BTW, I just purchased a Bostich framer from Amazon for 124 and change, free shipped. Like half price, couldn't pass it up. (clipped head)

Craig, I think in areas where you are subject to hurricanes and earth quakes the codes now require full round heads for the little extra holding power.

I often visit all my pawn shops on the way home from work. Nailing hammers are by far the most abundant tools I see. Some great prices too.

Matt, I will check Anderson's. I'd never heard of it but have only been in Marysville a few months so there are quite a few places I have not heard of.

Mark got it exactly right in that I'm looking for a nailer I could do decking, fencing, siding, as well as framing with. Thus I want the full head as it isn't much more and from what I've seen the nails are the exact same price.

If you've already purchased this exact nailer from Amazon then they will do a price difference refund. You just have to call CS and ask them.

This is on a "Weekend Sale". I'm not sure how long Amazon's "Weekend" is but sometimes it lasts through Monday.

Mark, thanks for the response. I saw this last night and ordered it this morning. Nearly bought a clipped head reconditioned model yesterday and held off as I really wanted the full head. Glad I waited.

Washington State, or at least King County, requires full head nails.
