    an old friend

Just thought I'd share some pictures of a saw I made for back country camping trips. I like to canoe in the Adirondacks, where weight and bulk are unwanted companions.

This saw is made of bass, except for the tightening stick, which is cherry. It weighs 8 oz, and folds up into a tidy stuff sack.

It gives me much more joy to use than the soul-less metal ones you can buy in a store. I keep it as sharp as I can, and it has served me well for years.
