Maybe someone can explain the difference between Pink Tasmanian Myrtle Burl and Rose Tasmanian Myrtle Burl..... I don't know if there is a difference or if it is just a marketing ploy to sucker us woodturners in....
Anyway, it has been a while since I have posted anything in the turning forum as I have been busy working on some other things. Almost three months ago I rough turned this very wet piece of Rose Tasmanian Myrtle Burl and soaked it in alcohol and then let it dry. It kept calling to me until I could stand it no more and I had to rip the paper off and finish turn this box. As with all burls there are good sides, bad sides, cracks, birdseye, curl and color variations. This box has all of that and more. I am just glad it stayed together with all the cracks that are in it.
It finished up at 3 1/2" in diameter and 2 1/4" tall. Might be good for some paper clips or something.....
