    Creeker's Weekend Accomplishments....

    Good Morning Everyone,

Been off work for a week now and it has been GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Been spending a lot of time with the family, visiting friends, church, cutting firewood, stacking and splitting firewood, working on the final set of cabinets for the youth ranch, needing to get back to working on that computer desk, and last but not least, get a kitchen table made for a customer.

We're finally getting some rain, and boy do we need the rain. It's been so dry here that even our grass has turned into "survivor man".

Anyway, what did YOU do this weekend?

Best of weeks to you all.
    Thanks & Happy Wood Chips,
    Dennis -

Mornin' Dennis. See you slept in today.

No woodworking this weekend. As I said in the "Weekend Doin's" thread Friday, it was all about my MOM this weekend for her B-Day. We treated her to Chinese for lunch Saturday and then Prime Rib Saturday night. Yesterday was her presents and then she took off for the Casino. Was getting worried when she hadn't showed up by 8 PM, but she wandered in just before 9 PM.

I took a drive down to "Just Outside of Spring Green" and Spring and I had a good visit. Tried to soak up some more knowledge. Good visit and a good weekend.

Glad you enjoyed your week, Dennis.

I spent my weekend in Birmingham, where I performed a wedding for someone who is "family by choice"--the best kind in some cases!!!

I got home Sunday evening in time to sand the exterior of a bubinga bowl. That was the extent of my WWing. I did come home to find a box with some zebrawood and purpleheart blanks. Oh boy oh boy oh boy....

Went camping Friday night-Sunday morning which was relaxing. Spent Sunday working on things related to my shop changes. This week I'll start moving into planning the newly found space.

I went down to Indiana to Russ’ place for the lumber run (see SMC Classifieds). I picked up 120 ft of maple and another 20 of cherry. I started jointing it yesterday in between baseball and football – busy time of year. The maple is for a friends kitchen - my first full kitchen.

I worked on a couple of small door orders that I've got going. Sprayed black lacquer on an oak entertainment center. Pics to follow at another date and traded for a new GMC 2500 extended cab picumup truck, something to pull the camper with. Other than that the weekend was rather uneventful.
Just keep working on it. It'll give up and do right after a while.

Framed in the remainder of the basement bath and hung the drywall. I hope to have the first coat of mud, rough in the electrical, and the tile floor down tonight.

I spent a long weekend in London Ontario (about a two hour drive west of Toronto) where I helped my brother in law re-roof part of the old apartment building owned by my sister. We repaired and re-shingled a section of roof that is 125 years old and still had the original roofing boards attached with hand forged nails. Most of the boards (elm, I think) were still sound but we did have to replace some near the edge of the roof. We had to be careful because, for the first 4 hours of work there was still snow and ice on the roof.

Here is a close up of one of the nails:

In the evenings I had a complete change of pace. My niece Jessica and I made fruit and nut cakes for Christmas (5 cakes totaling about 18 pounds in weight).

    Hi Dennis,

We got the pool drained (kinda like pumping money down the sewer) and I think we located the leak - the housing for the underwater lighting. Spent half of Sunday at church - I run the audio-video-lighting group and it was my turn to do both services. The other half of Sunday was spent fighting with some cheap movie making software and trying to get our vacation snap-shots set to music and burned to DVD's so we could share them with family and friends.

Oh, and two episodes of Midsomer Murders.

    Maybe next week some sawdust.

Well Frank was busy, so he didn't drop by to visit,

But that's okay, as I was plenty busy. Saturday was my wife's birthday and her first present for the day was peace and quiet - so I took all four of the kids off to do some shopping and suchlike and gave her three quiet solitary hours at home.

Sunday morning was interesting as I am doing my turn at teaching Sunday School. Boy, teaching three-year-olds is very different than seven-yr-olds (last year).

But I also got to spend some more time in the shop. I completed the main construction on these: http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=42230
(post #9 is more-or-less what I went with) And this morning I put out some shellac flakes to soak, so hopefully by next weekend I'll have some photos of the finished shelves.

    best,

I'm on a mission to clear out some of the scrap wood and scrap-other cluttering things up in the garage-mahal. I was doing fine till I came across a couple pieces that were too good to toss. I need some support legs for the new TS as I'll be using cast iron all the way to the right as opposed to the poor quality Bies extension wing. Well, I started thinkin' . . always dangerous when I'm trying to be efficient.

I'll end up with a support cabinet that will house my miter gauge and what-nots for the TS while providing support to the fence rails. Pics will follow in another post. It makes better use of the wood than just throwing it out but it did put a kink in my clean-o-rama momentum I had going.

Well there's always next trash day ;-)

Bill Pentz and I worked on my dust system, testing. Moved an exterior wall door (joins garage and living space) 24" due to pending kitchen remodel. Reran 2 110v circuits and correctly wired the switches due to some moron installing them improperly in the past.

Nice steak dinner as a treat to the wife (and myself ) at Ruth's Chris last night.

An enjoyable weekend all in all.

Celebrated my wedding anniversary up in Galena, IL (antique town)with the wife. Stayed up late night reading Woodworking web pages dreaming about how some day soon I'll have a shop again, just as soon as construction on my house is complete.

Had the neighborhood yard sale on Sat. and we were able to make some nice $$$ by getting rid of some of my son's clothes that newborn daughter will not using. Amazing how fast clothes, shoes, jackets, and halloween costumes sell second hand.

I finally got to start on mobile plywood cart so I can get all the sheet goods and scraps in one place and then I have to start on the miter bench. It seems like every time I move the full sheets of ply to work in one area I need to then get to that area. aarrrrrhhhhh !!!

Got a lot of nice complaments on the shop even in it's "rough form" from some yard sale shoppers. I think I said "No Tools are for sale" at least a 2 dozen times
