Ryobi RE175 Router

I have an RE175 plunge router that I use for handheld stuff. I would like to start using it with a recently purchased dovetail jig but I can't seem to find any plates for it that will fit template guides. My model seems to have only two mounting holes, is this normal? I have not removed the sub-base as I can't seem to find a way to do this. If I do remove the sub-base are there more holes under there to mount a universal plate to? How do you get the sub-base off without damaging it? Someone please help me........if you can.

Check with Leigh. They may have a guide bushing adapter for your router that will take "defacto-standard" guide bushings.

I've got the same router and the same problem. I actually like the router, but I was never able to find an adapter to be able to use bushings with it. I even tried one of those aftermarket base plates, but couldn't get it to fit either. It took me forever just to find the edge guide for it. I finally gave up and bought the Dewalt 618PK. I'm going to relegate the Ryobi to router table use for now.

I found it, I found it!!!

Leigh makes an insert that appears to take the standard size bushings from Lee Valley!!!!!! Check here, you need the #706 adapter http://www.leevalley.com/wood/page.a...90&cat=1,43000

or you can get it from Leigh http://www.leighjigs.com/ugs.php. I sure hope that it takes the standard brass inserts from Lee Valley.

Now, if I'd have known Lee Valley sold these, I would not have ordered them from the west coast, I could have just made the 5 minute drive to LV and had it tomorrow.

Make sure you purchase the correct guide bushings from Lee Valley. They have two sizes...one that fits their table system and one that is "defacto-standard" sized. You want the latter...
