    Turn-A-Thon for Freedom Pens

Anyone In the Peoria Area, stop in at Woodcraft, Peoria on November 11, 2006,"Veterans Day", for our Third Annual FREEDOM PEN TURN-A-THON.

We will have at least 5 lathes set up to turn from 11:00 AM till 3:00 PM for you to use.

If you don't have time to turn that day, please make some pens and drop them off anytime before the 11th. Please note: Pens only--- no pencils.

Thanks to ALL the turners who donate to this program.

    Hope to see you here.

The Woodcraft Store in Norfolk, Virginia is also supporting the Veterans Day Turn-A-Thon and have their annual big discount sale day as well.

I hope that since Veterans Day is on a Satuday this year we have a huge turnout all over the country. If you attend a TAT please let everyone know that we need donations to pay for free pen kits for students and shipping our pens to the Middle East.

Woodcraft has offered to ship all of the pens made on Veterans Day at their Turn-A-Thon this year.

    Exclamation Madison, WI, too!

Same thing for the Woodcraft in Madison, WI! Here's your chance to do something real worthwhile and your opportunity to meet the famous, the one, the only....ME!!! The manager at our store wants the lathes available from 10:00 until 3:00 so, be there or be square!

Peoria got 253 done. What was great was that we had about 15 folks that had NEVER turned before come in and with so0me tutoring, they each made a pen for the cause.

Long day, but well worth the effort.

    Bruce

Forgot to mention the BEST thing! Roger told me on Tuesday that he was going to award the FIRST young turner to complete a pen a Jet Pen Lathe. She was 10 years old and had never touched a lathe. He also included a set of small turning tools, some pen kits and pen blanks.

I have no doubt, from her reaction that we have another "Capture" for the Vortex
