    Downsizing a template/pattern

I made a couple of adarondack chairs (adult size) a few years back. I really like the design. I am considering making one for my 2 year old son (child size). My question is this. I made templates of all the parts for the original chair. If I make each templates exactly 1/2 the size, will the chair be exactly 1/2 the size? Or is that too simple to work?

What you have to be careful about when downsizing something, especially a chair is proportions and material thickness. You may need to scale differently for that reason...it's not just about mathmatics. I'm going to guess, however, that 1/2 size is 1/2 size...
