    SMC Holiday Contest Charity Poll

Tried to put this in the original thread, but couldn't.

    So here ya go folks.

Up above you'll see the top ten nominees for designation as our Turning Contest beneficiary. And to be honest there were exactly ten nominations, so each now has a fair shot at this.

The polling will remain open until the December 3rd deadline, and is not restricted to turners or entrants; anyone can vote - even you laserheads!

Here are some links to help.

    Make-a-Wish Foundation

    The Jaycees

    The Children's Hunger Fund

    American Red Cross

    Freedom Pens Project

    Ronald McDonald House

    St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital

    Another SMC Turners Abysseration

    Shriners Hospital for Children

    Toys for Tots

You have listed a lot of very worthy charities there. My personal favorite is Ronald McDonald House. . . But I wonder, must we pick only one?

    Yup - just one.

That's why I said, "Choose wisely".

    Andy,

That was excellent of you to include links to the charities. It makes it really easy for eveyone to do some research before they make their wise one and only selection.

Thanks for all the hard work you do to make this forum a success!

I went for Freedom Pens... I think they need some money for upcoming turn-a-thons and supplies!

Hey Andy, I didn't see the "Mark Rios Home for Lost Snakes and Dogs Foundation" listed. I'm sure it was just a typo.

I'll hold my breath 'til you get in it included, okay?

Andy, given the fact that votes are thus far relatively evenly spread out, you might consider having a runoff. St. Jude's is out in front, but more people have voted for causes other than St. Jude's than for St. Jude's. Just a thought.

Nope. If we modified the poll (which really means shutting this one down and starting another) we'd have have to include Rios' suggested charity; and that, quite frankly pains me too much to contemplate.

Besides - that would just distract us further from creating stuff for the contest.

Two and half weeks to go folks. Time to pony up them pieces.

    Hey, folks!

The poll closes today (Sunday) at 12:32 PM eastern.

Allow me to expound on that for you:
For those of you in Virginia, this is the same time one typically partakes of Second Breakfast.

For those of you in Wisconsin, this is typically about the time of day you have your third block of New Jersey Cheese.

For those of you in Idaho, this is about the time you'd be turning your sixteenth bonker of the day.

For those of you in California - Wake Up!
If you haven't already done so, get your vote in now.
