I don't know anything about Disston tools Mike....But they look exactly like a set of Greenley's that I bought on ebay for about $30. Even the box looks the same. Mine were manufactured in the 50's. They are very nice...although they do tend to bend when I get a catch and smack myself in the face and stuff.

If mine did that, they would be in the scrap bucket?
I'm not sure if Disston had another company make cheaper tools under their name? I would doubt it!
I have no need for them, because I don't turn anymore. and besides that their not HSS. I would spend to much time at the grinder, then I would on the Banjo.
thanks for your input and if anyone else wants to leap in please do. If i do sell them? I would like a fair price and also have them go to another woodwork who would appreciate them.

Somewhere.....I don't remember where........... I read that you could tell if a tool was HSS or carbon steel by the color of the sparks when you ground the tool. But because of my age.....I can't remember where or what the exact distinction was.......

So much to learn, so little time.....
Hey Ken if it is carbon steel the sparks look like a 4th of July sparkler.

Turning tools that bend?
I would sell them at the next garage sale for fifty cents apiece.
