Question: Interesting web sites about woodturning techniques?

    Hello,
I am making a piece of furniture which require some
turning parts (finials, front drawers, etc). I decided
to buy a lathe and to learn woodturning.
Some days ago I ordered a jet lathe and
this will be my santa claus gift.
I am asking your help to find web sites
which do you consider interesting for reading
    and for learning woodturning techniques.
I will appreciate web sites with picture o best some videos.
    Many thanks in advance
    Saludos cordiales

    Hi,
When I fist started I attended a class and it answered a lot of my questions but you could get that from buying a few good video's as well..
getting past the basics take a little time but start out on some scrap wood and practice learning the tools the advance to making something small and so on and so on...
my favorite sites are this one, and www.woodturningonline.com
good luck in the future and when your lathe is up and running make sure and post some pics for us to enjoy --
    we love them,
    have fun,
    --Chris

    Hello Alfredo

My impression of your request if that you just want to see someone turn something and give you an idea of how it is done.

    I suggest trying:
www.woodcraft.com they have lots of how-to videos of products that they sell.
www.robert-sorby.co.uk/ also showing you how to use their products

www.thewoodworkingchannel.com they have a lot of woodworking in general but also a number of turners showing how they make what ever it is they are known for.

Alfredo, consider obtaining Bill Grumbine's videos. They are available from most of the turning suppliers or direct from Bill. ˇSaludos!

If you're just interested in seeing someone turn something my blog site has a video of me turning a small shallow bowl. It's in .wmv format and will take a while to download.
