Cigar Humidor Pics or Plans Anyone

I would like to build a cigar humidor (desktop) for my uncle as a gift, but cant seem to find any acceptable examples or plans to follow. Have any of you built one and can provide me with some pics or plans?

Don't use aromatic cedar. I heard of someone who did that and it couldn't be used for cigars. =] Beautiful box though.

The lining should be of spanish cedar. The outside can be anything.

    humidor

humidor.jpgI built this one years ago it came out nice. I could send the plans by email if you like. I also got an email from Woodcraft supply today, they have plans for a pocket humidor on line, it holds four cigars.

There was a cover story article on building humidors in a past issue of Fine Woodworking magazine. You should be able to find it on their website doing a search.
Spanish cedar only for the interior. Unfinished. Anything else will impart an odor or flavor into the cigars that will render them useless. Not a good thing for a H Uppman Vintage Camaroon.

  8. I have built 100 -200 or so humidors over the years from pocket size up to a 78" tall corner unit. It is true you can use just about any wood for the actual box, tho I wouldn't use Purpleheart as it and the spanish cedar seem to react strangely. The spanish cedar should fit snuggly into the box and round over the top edge of it a small hand plane checking it every few strokes, it doesn't take much to go past a air cushioned full close, which is a perfect fit. Don't know of a better way to describe it. I build them like I am going to use them and I do use them.
Let me know if you need any more info, altho I know there is not alot in what I have just written, just a few key points. Will try to post a few pics when I can figure out how.

    Some Links

Here are some links I saved when my son thought he wanted one. Hope they're helpful. I haven't built one yet, as his desire subsided.
